Pattern Imprinted Concrete for the Commercial Market

Pattern imprinted concrete has become a leading choice for commercial concrete flooring and external surfacing across the UK, thanks to its exceptional durability, design flexibility, and long-term cost efficiency.

Widely specified by architects, developers, and contractors, pattern imprinted concrete systems are now a staple in large-scale commercial environments where both performance and visual appeal are critical.

From retail parks and shopping centres to motorway infrastructure, petrol forecourts, and public sector developments, pattern imprinted concrete delivers a seamless, hard-wearing surface that withstands heavy traffic and demanding conditions. Its ability to replicate premium finishes such as stone, slate, and brick makes it a highly versatile solution for decorative concrete in commercial projects without the associated installation and maintenance costs.

Case Study: Queensferry Crossing

We are proud to have been associated with one of Scotland’s most prestigious and ambitious infrastructure projects - the Queensferry Crossing.

With an overall project value of £1.5 billion, this iconic structure is the longest three-tower cable-stayed bridge in the world. Elite Crete provided practical and technical support in the construction of hard shoulders and ramps serving the motorway approaches both north and south of the crossing.

Queens Ferry Project

The Challenge

The areas beneath bridge approaches are often overlooked, yet on a high-profile project of this scale every detail matters.

The client required a solution that was:

  • Durable
  • Low maintenance
  • Structurally robust
  • Visually complementary to the bridge buttress

Additionally, installation was required on inclines of up to 30 degrees, presenting further technical challenges.

Our Solution

Working alongside the main bridge contractor, we supplied our colour hardener and release powder curing agents to assist in the installation of over 3,000m² of coloured concrete. A natural stone imprinted finish was selected to complement the surrounding bridge structure.

We collaborated closely with local labour teams, providing guidance on the specialist techniques required for installing pattern imprinted concrete on steep gradients.

By transferring knowledge and technical expertise, we enabled the workforce to continue the work independently to the required specification.

The Result

What could have been a purely functional, overlooked area was transformed into a durable and visually impressive feature.

The finished surfaces are weed-free, easy to maintain, and designed to retain their appearance for years to come enhancing the overall presentation of this landmark project.
