A good cement bull float also brings a small amount of paste to the top, ready for the next stage of finishing.

What is a concrete power float?
A concrete power float is a machine used once the concrete has started to firm up.
Unlike a hand concrete finishing float, a concrete power float uses rotating blades to smooth and polish the slab. It's commonly used on larger areas such as warehouse floors, workshops and commercial buildings where a tough, consistent finish is needed. It's also the quickest and most effective way to float concrete floor surfaces once they're ready.
When should each tool be used?
A bull float is used first, while a concrete power float comes later.
The bull float is used immediately after screeding to level the surface. Once the concrete has started to set and the surface can support the machine without sinking, it's time to bring in the power float. Using the right tool at the right stage helps prevent unnecessary marks and produces a much better finish overall.
Do you need both tools?
In many cases, yes you do, because each tool does a different job. The bull float prepares the surface, while the power float completes the finish. If you're working on larger concrete projects, having both available will usually give the best results.
