For depressing the aggregate. Tampers (sometimes called rollerbugs) push the coarse aggregate in the concrete below the concrete surface and consolidate the concrete. Bringing the “fatty” more workable stuff to the surface.

Please note that the 36″ tamper includes an 8″ starter connecter (pictured), to connect to snap handles.

The 24″ one is the tamper only.
